System Center Configuration Manager Hybrid Diagnostics

Before you install and use System Center Configuration Manager Hybrid Diagnostics:

1. Review the license terms by downloading word file in this download package.

2. Print and retain a copy of the license terms for your records.

By downloading and using the tool you agree to such license terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the software.

This release of the tool will check of the following issues related to device enrollment scenario:

• Checks that the SMS Executive service is running
• Checks for the Microsoft Intune connector certificate
• Checks for potential conflicts between Intune connector certificates
• Checks for DNS CName entry for the specified UPN
• Checks for device type enablement in Configuration Manager
• Checks for known errors in Status Messages
• Checks for UPN synchronization in AAD
• Checks that the specified user is a member of the cloud user collection
• Checks that the AAD ID and cloud user ID match

Prerequisites:

The following are Prerequisites for Hybrid Diagnostics:
• System Center 2012 Configuration Manager SP1 or Later
• System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager or Later
• System Center Configuration Manager (1511) or later
• Windows PowerShell 3.0 or Later
• Azure Active Directory PowerShell module
• .NET Framework 4.5 or Later
• System Center Configuration Manager service connection point site system role. The Hybrid Diagnostics is intended install and run on the computer that hosts the service connection point or Microsoft Intune connector role in the Configuration Manager hierarchy.
• To use this tool, your account must be a member of the SMS Admin group – This is used to get access to the SMS Provider and for basic hierarchy discovery.
• (Recommended) Microsoft Online Service Azure Active Directory (AAD) Tenant Admin Credentials – This is the account is used to check if the specified user account is synchronized with AAD.

Great news, the Update 1601 now available in System Center Configuration Manager Technical Preview !!!

Some of the new features that are available in this update include:

  • Conditional Access for PCs managed by ConfigMgr– Use conditional access capabilities in Configuration Manager to help secure access to Office 365 (Exchange Online and SharePoint online) on PCs that are managed by ConfigMgr. Conditions which can be used to control access are – Azure AD Workplace Join, BitLocker, Antimalware, Firewall, and Software Updates.
  • Online status of devices – Identify at a glance whether a client is online or offline in near real-time in the Configuration Manager console. With updated icons and columns in the console device listings, you can assess the status of clients in your environment to quickly identify problem areas that require attention.
  • New antimalware policy settings – Configure new antimalware settings including protection against potentially unwanted applications, user control of automatic sample submission, and scanning of network drives during a full scan.

This release also includes new features for customers using System Center Configuration Manager integrated with Microsoft Intune to manage mobile devices. Some of the features that you can expect to see are:

  • The ability to set iOS managed app configuration.
  • The ability to include Windows 10 health attestation data as part of overall device compliance check. You can learn more about Windows 10 health attestation, in this TechNet article.
  • Manage and deploy apps purchased through the Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP) for Business portal.

What’s System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Support Center?

System Center 2012 Configuration Manager Support Center helps you to gather information about System Center 2012 Configuration Manager clients, so that you can more easily address issues with those clients when working with product support specialists. Configuration Manager Support Center includes a tool that gathers a bundle of log files, and also a tool that is used by product support specialists to examine log files and other client data for in-depth analysis of issues with Configuration Manager clients.

Data Collection

Item Description:
Start Collection
When you click this button, Support Center will collect information from the Configuration Manager client. By default, Configuration Manager client information is collected, and Operating System information is also collected. You can collect other types of information by selecting the checkbox next to the name for that type of information.
Log files
When you select the checkbox for this option, client log files (including setup logs) are collected the next time that you click Start Collection.
Policy
When you select the checkbox for this option, client policy data is collected the next time that you click Start Collection.
Certificates
When you select the checkbox for this option, public key information for client certificates is collected the next time that you click Start Collection.
Client Configuration Collector
Configuration Manager client information is collected by default when you click Start Collection.
Client registry
When you select the checkbox for this option, client configuration information used by Configuration Manager is collected from the registry the next time that you click Start Collection.
Client WMI
When you select the checkbox for this option, client configuration information from WMI (excluding client policy) is collected the next time that you click Start Collection.
Troubleshooting
When you select the checkbox for this option, troubleshooting information (including Active Directory, Management Point, networking, policy and registration information) is collected the next time that you click Start Collection.

Client Details tab
The following table lists the items on the Client Details tab of the Support Center tool.
Item Description
Load or Refresh
When you click this button, Support Center will load or refresh client details for the Configuration Manager client.
Client ID
Displays a unique identifier that is used to identify the client to Configuration Manager
Hardware ID
Displays a unique identifier that is used to identify the client hardware to Configuration Manager
Approved
Indicates whether the client has been approved
Registration State
Indicates whether or not the client has been registered
Internet-facing
Indicates whether or not the client is internet-facing
Version
The version number of the client agent that is running on the client
Site Code
Site code for the primary site associated with the client
Assigned MP
The ID of the assigned management point
Resident MP
The ID of the resident management point
Proxy MP
The hostname or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the proxy management point (if it exists)
Proxy Site Code
The site code for the secondary site (if it exists)
Proxy State
The state of the configuration manager client’s proxy management point, such as Active or Pending.

Client Policy tab
The following table lists the items on the Client Policy tab of the Support Center tool.
Item Description
Load Actual Policy

When you click Actual, and then click this button, Support Center will load the client policy currently used on the client.
Load Requested Policy
When you click Requested, and then click this button, Support Center will load the client policy requested of the client.
Load Default Policy
When you click Requested, and then click this button, Support Center will load the default policy for this client.
Request and Evaluate Policy
When you click this button, Support Center will request the client policy from the management point and then evaluate that policy on the client.
Request Policy Only
When you click this button, Support Center will request the client policy from the management point.
Evaluate Policy Only
When you click this button, Support center will evaluate the client policy on the client.
Listen for policy events
When you click this button, Support Center will listen for policy events. Clicking the button again will disable listening for policy events.
Clear Events
When you click this button, Support Center will clear any policy events.

The following table lists the items on the Content tab of the Support Center tool.

Start Troubleshooting
When you click this button, Support Center will start troubleshooting the client.
View log
After you select a row on the Troubleshooting tab, you can click this button to view the log file for the item on that row.
Active Directory
Queries Active Directory to retrieve published Configuration Manager site information.
MPCERTIFICATE
Gets management point certificates
MPLIST
Gets a list of management points
Networking
Troubleshoots issues with networking
Policy Assignments
Retrieves policy assignments
Registration
Verifies that the client is registered

Logs tab
The following table lists the items on the Logs tab of the Support Center tool.
Item Description
Open Logs

When you click this button, Support Center will prompt you to select one or more log files to open.
Close All Logs
When you click this button, Support Center will close any open log files.
Show Details
When you select this checkbox after clicking a log file message, the details of the log file message will be displayed at the bottom of the Logs tab.
Show Quick Filter
When you select this checkbox after clicking the Open Logs button, you will be able to filter the log file messages across all open log files to find a specific string.
Configure Client Logging
When you click this button, you will be able to configure how
Configuration Manager log files are managed on this client.
Open Log Group
Instead of manually selecting log files using the Open Logs button, you can use this drop-down list to open all log files associated with Application Management, Client Registration, or Policy.
